Southwest Airlines Adds 8 New Routes
13 Red Eye flights, 8 new routes, and more are added by Southwest Airlines.
Since 1971, Southwest Airlines (LUV) has operated flights. But the Dallas-based carrier only recently began offering redeye trips.
That decision was based on an old-school reservations system. That did not allow for flights that took off one day and landed the next. As well as the prioritizing of shorter routes between regional cities. (The reservation system was improved.)
But, as investors pressed the airline to be more lucrative. In September 2024, Southwest announced the launch of its first redeye flights.
In February 2025, the first flights will depart from Las Vegas to Honolulu and Kona. Followed by flights from Phoenix in April. Southwest will also operate these red-eye flights in 2025.

Southwest Air introduces new redeye flights
This Monday, the airline announced that it will add 13 redeye routes to its schedule by June 2025.
Flights from Southern California’s Long Beach and Orange County, as well as Portland, Seattle, and San Jose, will connect with Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport.
Flights from Los Angeles to Honolulu, Las Vegas to Kauai’s Lihue Airport, and Sacramento to Orlando will also be booked.
While not a redeye, Southwest is launching a completely new service between Colorado Springs and Cancun International Airport.
This is the first time the airline will provide service between these two cities. It now provides nonstop service to the Mexican tourist town from cities such as Denver, Phoenix, and Orlando.
DALLAS – Southwest Airlines (WN) is expanding its schedule with additional routes and Redeye flights through August 4, 2025, allowing consumers to book early for next summer’s trip.
The updated itinerary includes nonstop service to destinations with strong demand, attractive seasonal routes, and additional red eye flights.
Southwest Airlines New Routes
Southwest’s summer 2025 itinerary now includes 33 nighttime flights, with 13 new Redeye options. The new redeye flights will depart from:
- Honolulu to Los Angeles.
- Lihue, Hawaii to Las Vegas.
- Long Beach, CA to Baltimore/Washington
- Ontario, California to Baltimore/Washington
- Portland, Oregon to Baltimore/Washington
- Sacramento, California to Orlando
- San Francisco to Baltimore/Washington/Nashville
- San Jose, California to Baltimore/Washington.
- Seattle to Baltimore-Washington, Chicago, Houston, and Nashville.
This new redeye route joins Southwest’s before-announced overnight flights as the airline extends its overnight offerings.
Additionally, on June 14, 2025, Southwest Airlines will launch a new seasonal service between Colorado Springs and Cancun, Mexico. The flights will provide Colorado residents with easy access to the renowned beach location.
Southwest is also resuming or increasing daily seasonal operations between many major cities in the United States and popular summer destinations. These include connections from.
The routes include Austin to Boston, Baltimore/Washington to Portland, and Seattle. Denver to Myrtle Beach and Savannah, Dallas to Seattle.
Vacationers now have the option of a weekend trip with Saturday flights to Cancun. The new itineraries’ tickets are now available for purchase.
